Demon Freaks centres around four friends who are pulled into a crazy supernatural conspiracy the night before their SAT exams. Ron, Bing, and Meat head to a remote cabin in the woods to study for their SAT exams and practice a few songs for their band. After arriving, they are attacked by a cult member of the Sons of Darkness with an ancient ritualistic dagger with mind control abilities. Meat becomes possessed by the dagger and zooms off in their escape vehicle, leaving his friends to the mercy of the entire Sons of Darkness cult. Kaitlyn rescues them, but soon she and Meat are captured by the Golfers, a rival cult of the Sons of Darkness, after they attempt to rescue Meat from the clutches of the dagger.

Tricked and chased by Golfers, the Sons of Darkness, a Santa Claus look-alike, and attacked by teethheads, Ron and Bing attempt to rescue their friends and ultimately save the world from the crazy cult that intend to use them as sacrifices to summon a demon. Meanwhile, Meat and Kaitlyn decide to team-up with the dagger to save themselves. But even with the help of commando chick's from a private secret agency, can either of them save the day and still make it in time for their SATs?

I was invested. This book is outstanding. Everything from the plot to the characters themselves was excellently written. J.R.R.R. (Jim) Harrison knows how to set a scene that slowly reals you in until the outside world is forgotten. This book is filled with enough humour to keep you laughing until other people begin to think you've lost it, such as a scene in the book where their history teacher makes a lengthy speech about how barbaric medieval torture is the proper way to punish people. Another example is the scene upon which I found out exactly just how obsessed with showers Kaitlyn is. There were huge plot twists that I never saw coming. I loved every minute of reading this book and found absolutely nothing to hate about it.

I give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. This is as a result of its excellent editing, as I found no errors while reading this book. The book's thrilling plot twists, side-aching humour, character development, and beautifully written scenes also contributed greatly to the final rating. The book creates a world you can find yourself falling into. It truly deserves such rating.

I would recommend this book to anyone who would love a good book about saving the world, loyalty, and friendship. Who, of course, is a lover of the fantasy genre, especially those centred around young adults. This book contains some degoratory terms, the first instance of which is on page ten. Sensitive readers should note that there are no explicit scenes, but there is some nudity.
