Mysteries You Can’t Put Down- Stories of Intrigue
4 out of 4 Stars

“You can’t judge a book by its cover” is a phrase that I have always believed, and has never failed to be true. That is until I read the book Mysteries You Can’t Put Down – Stories of Intrigue by Brad Bennett. The book is comprised of seven short stories that are so intriguing that, if you are dedicated bookworm, then you will definitely enjoy this collection of Brad Bennett’s work. The short stories that he has written are remarkably unique and will keep you turning the pages until the very end. In The Secret of the Undead Room, the body of R.K. Fielding, the president and CEO of the Undead Movie Studios, has just been discovered at the Sylvia Hotel by his personal secretary. The Chief Inspector Edwin Steelside is called in to investigate the obvious homicide. After his initial questioning of R.K’s secretary and a first glance at the surveillance tapes, he learns that only two other people besides her the night of the murder. Both of whom worked closely with Fielding, and were producers at the Undead Studios. Alvin Blackstone and Cal Morrow. One of them was the last person to see R. K. alive and it’s up to Ed to get to the truth before the wrong man gets convicted for the crime. Uri’s Full-Bodied Wine takes place at the Liquid Lust Winery. Three years after the disappearance of Honrich Golonovich, his partners, Uri and Katerina Bablonski, have begun to get the business off the ground with the help of their Cellar Master, Andre Leshan. Andre has sent their Lot -3 bottles off to the distributor and unexpectedly released the best Cabernet Sauvignon of the year. The couple’s happiness and the future of the winery is on the line when a discovery made by a little girl at a family picnic threatens to expose a dark secret. The Last Requiem is about a family’s secret that drives them apart and the lengths that they go through to atone for the mistakes of their past. In Flight to Fairbanks, Will and Jean McLain are flying back from his father’s cabin at nightfall when they hit a flock of geese which leaves them without power and gliding over rough Alaskan terrain. Will realizes that they will have to make and emergency landing and radios for help and is answered by Joe Danforth. In order for them to survive, it is up to Joe to help guide the couple down safely. In A Killing on the 16th Tee, two con artist, Ron Jakes and Kevin Brown, meet their match on the course when their mark makes them an offer that they can’t refuse. The consequences of their decision will haunt them for the rest of their lives. A Command Performance is a truly inspirational story about a man named Dudley who has just been going through the everyday motions of life. No excitement, or adventure, he has been coasting along on auto pilot for years. Until one rainy day, he comes upon a pawn shop he has never noticed before with an authentic captain’s hat in the window. He is mesmerized by the hat and empowered when he tries it on. What happens after he purchases it will change his life forever. The Boy in the Attic is about a boy named Tommy who has to move in with his great Aunt Mattie while his mother gets her life straightened out. Aunt Mattie lives in a spooky old Victorian house outside of Portland, Oregon. She has lived alone for years with her cat, Gulliver. Tommy is fascinated by the house and the many rooms that hold many secrets. But when he finds his way to the attic by accident the story that Aunt Mattie reveals about the previous owners of the house will haunt his reality forever. The Message is a sci-fi thriller about Earth’s first translated message from aliens. It’s got the scientific community in an uproar and has perplexed them all with it’s meaning.
The positive aspects about this book is that all the stories are original and the author knows how to tell a story.
The only negative aspects of the book are the reuse of names through out the stories.
I give this book the rating of4 out of 4 stars because it is a wonderful book and I simply couldn’t stop reading until the last page. Although there are a few grammatical errors, but the book is very well written and the stories are told perfectly. It gave me goosebumps, made me laugh, and kept me wanting to know what would happen next. I truly enjoyed reading it.
I would recommend this book to anyone over the age of 14 who loves to read a good mystery. Someone who needs a little adventure, or intrigue in their life and who especially love a good book.

I love how this book is a series of short stories that can be read overtime, instead of something that has to be done all in one go. It makes it a lot easier to read and ensures that I won't have to remember everything that previously happened. I don't think the negative thing you mentioned would impact my reading experience either, but I appreciate it, as I will remember that each story is irrelevant to one another in that way.
