Demon Freaks by J. R. R. R. (Jim) Hardison is a horror novel that follows the life of high school teenagers. Ron and Bing Slaughter are teenage twin-brothers going to the same high school. For some reason they hate their history teacher Mr. Brom. Many students find Mr. Brom weird and quite scary. Ron and Bing are in a band with Kaitlyn Krimpsen and Prathamesh Kimitri. Prathamesh, also known as Meat, is a drummer while Kaitlyn plays the keyboard. They are all reminded about the upcoming SAT exams by Mr. Brom during a history lesson. They decide to study together after their band practice. The whole town losses its electricity. What, or better still, who could be the cause of this power outage? Mr. Brom shows up at the cabin where the four friends are hanging out. He starts reciting incantations and a lot of supernatural things start to happen. Meat and Kaitlyn go missing. Will Ron and Bing be able to save their friends? Will they ever figure out what is going on around them?

I loved how the author stayed true to the genre of the book. It was a complete horror story that at times left shivers down my spine. Demon Freaks is filled with suspense, humor, and drama. Every scene left me in awe and anticipation of what would happen next. I could not afford to put the book down. Hardison executed every plot to the fullest. Scenes were so thoroughly described I could visualize them. Characters were also thoroughly developed.

I liked how the author kept Ron and Bing's personalities different. Identical twins do not necessarily need to have the same character and personality. It tends to get boring and too familiar when novels with twin characters turn out like that. My favorite character was Kaitlyn. She was bold and proof that bands are not just for men. Women can take part in them too. I loved how the author kept me in suspense at all times without giving away any clues of how the storyline would go. Nothing was ever predictable and all scenes surprised me. This was not just a book to pass time by with. It taught me a few things. Its storyline evolves around different themes like friendship and loyalty. Bing and Ron were loyal to their friendship with Meat and Kaitlyn. They could have chosen to run and save their own lives when Meat and Kaitlyn went missing but they did not. They chose to go searching for their friends even when they could barely understand the events that were happening around them. The kind of friendship these four had was impressive.

I found no errors while reading this book. It was exceptionally edited. The author had a great sense of humor even amidst all the horror and serious situations surrounding the storyline. However, there was one thing that I did not like about Demon Freaks. The author had me captivated in all chapters only to leave me at a stiff ending. I did not expect the book to end the way it did. It left me hanging and wondering. I had so many unanswered questions. I felt the author could have done a better job at it.The above-mentioned dislike is the reason why I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars.

I recommend this book to lovers of thrillers and horror novels. Even with the negative part I mentioned, the book is still interesting. Some readers may not even find the ending disappointing. Demon Freaks is suitable for a mature audience. It contaims some sexual content. Readers of all religions are welcome to try. Those whp enjoy horror novels would find this to be a good read.

Supernatural occurrences are pretty scary, and I wonder why the boys hate each other. Is the teacher part of a cult or something. I live the review because it's simple and fun. Thanks for the wonderful review

Light out in the town and Ron and Bing started experiencing some strange things. This sounds like a thrilling book to read. I will read the book in the near future. Thanks for the excellent review.
