NADEEM'S JOURNEY by Sherine Anniruth tells the very emotional story of a mother losing her child to cancer. Nadeem has always been an active and intelligent child. At a young age, he excelled in the game of cricket, and his academics were always commendable. Deciding that it is best for the children, their parents moved to a different country for better opportunities. Nadeem settled right in and continued to excel, making his parents proud. He graduated from university and settled into his dream job. He was a perfectionist who believed in self-image, so he was always working out and eating healthily. However, his stomach seemed to be getting bigger. His doctor confirmed that he indeed had cancer.

This was a very touching story. After reading the book, I felt like I knew Nadeem personally and I found myself crying when I read that he lost his battle with cancer. This book was well-written and wasn't too drawn out. It was summarized without leaving out important details and the reader easily got a sense of who Nadeem was. Although it was a sad story, I'm happy that Sherine was able to tell it with a positive spin. Throughout the book, there was some inspiring and eye-opening advice. Nadeem's story will teach its readers to live life to the fullest, to never take things for granted, and to let the persons in your life know that they are loved.

The only thing I did not like about this book was the way dates were written. I would have preferred if they were written without slashes. This is a personal preference of mine and does not affect the overall enjoyment of the book. I found the story quite immersive and finished reading the book in just one session. I'm happy the author had the courage to write this book, as it can be beneficial to parents who went through similar experiences.

NADEEM'S JOURNEY was a very emotive read and deserves a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I only found two errors in the entire book hence, I deem it to be professionally edited. The author shared pictures of Nadeem and his other siblings during their childhood, as well as their adult years. Her pictures also documented Nadeem's cancer journey. For persons who don't understand medical terms, a helpful glossary is provided at the end of the book.

I would recommend this book to parents who have children who have been diagnosed with cancer or any other type of life-threatening disease. This book will lift your spirits and give you the strength to carry on. I would also recommend it to persons who are diagnosed with serious illnesses.
