A Brighter Tomorrow is a compilation of inspirational poems penned by Lori Schneider, MD. On page 9 of the book, the poem collection starts with a quote:

“Amid the pandemic, overwhelmed with emotion,
I turned to pen and paper for catharsis.
Poetry has become my true devotion.
A window to the soul that illuminates the darkness.”

As the author began, she shared her love for poetry and how it affected her during the 2020 pandemic. The author added inspiring quotes from Deepak Chopra, Robert F. Kennedy, Jonny Corn, and Anne Keller to spice up the book. The author discussed World War II politics, war tactics, and the 2020 pandemic epidemic. In “Power of the Pen,” the author expresses her enthusiasm for writing poems and the sense of accomplishment it provides. The author discusses her difficulties as a writer in “Writer’s Block.” The author went further in “Say Our Name” to honour those who died due to social injustice. Lori Schneider finally ended the collection with “The Bright Tomorrow,” written by her adviser, Anthony Jones. Anthony Jones, also a poet, penned a collaborative poem with the author in the fifth collection, spewing their emotions on love and heartbreak issues. Artworks by Mark Salevitz, MD, reveal hints about each poetry work in the book.

The 95-page collection of poems is divided into seven sections, each having its title. Each poem in the book went along with a photo to depict what it contains. The book focused its attention on racism, injustice, courage, love, hope, animal defence and art. The book features well-arranged artistic works from the beginning to the end.

The poem “Writer’s Block” was my favourite because of the author’s openness. It was intriguing. The exceptional rhythmic flow in the poem made me fall in love with the book. Lori Schneider did a great job of using different rhyme patterns in the book without confusing the readers. I was so engrossed in the book that I could not put it down until I read the final poem.

My only issue regarding the book was the writing font of the quotes cited. The writing font made it tough to read them because it required straining the eyes. However, it does not affect the book’s rating. Therefore, I rate this book four out of four stars because of its well-organized structure. The book was exceptionally well-edited, as I encountered no errors while reading.

I would recommend this book to lovers of poetry. The book is suitable for all readers, young and old.
