Man Mission by Eytan Uliel follows four men as they leave behind their busy lives to eat foreign food with foreigners in foreign lands. For fifteen years, nights are spent in huts, tents, motels, and guesthouses. A sprained ankle cannot even stop them from completing their journey as they move from one place to another with the help of their kayaks, bikes, and feet. With each passing year, these four men change from being university students to employees, spouses, and parents who face unemployment, separation, and loss.

The book is divided into three parts which consists of a beginning, middle, and end. Each part is made up of five missions. Man Mission starts by giving us the characters’ backstories followed by incredibly detailed descriptions of locations. Eytan Uliel does not only choose to write about the characters’ adventure stories but also chooses to include their everyday lives.

The positive aspects of the book are the characters and the story. Characters have raw emotions. Readers can find characters to be relatable as characters try to cope with their internal struggles while dealing with external struggles. The story is beautifully written. Adventures are not written with rose-tinted glasses. The author chooses not to exaggerate the adventures. Eytan Uliel chooses to show the challenges that anyone who is on a trip around the world can encounter. I like the type of relationship our main character is having with his friends. Their relationship consists of them looking out for each other as well as pushing each other to grow. It is a good idea that Man Mission is not a one man’s journey but a four men’s journey. Our main character is not growing up alone but with his friends. The book showed me how people in other parts of the world live differently from me.

The negative aspect of the book is the humour. The humour is mostly based on characters making fun of each other’s struggles. I found myself feeling sorry for the characters as they were experiencing humiliation instead of laughter.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The book has been professionally edited. I did not find any grammatical or spelling errors. It is an informative book for men who are still trying to figure out life. Additionally, men are encouraged to express emotions instead of being shunned for doing so. The book can allow women to put themselves in men’s shoes.

I highly recommend this book to adults who are looking for a bit of adventure. Anyone planning to travel the world can enjoy reading Man Mission. I would not recommend this book to children as it includes profane dialogue and a few scenes with sexual content.
