Without Redemption, by David Griffith, is a unique fictional thriller book involving drug cartels and the authorities. Its narration is done in first and third-person perspectives, and Lonnie is the main character.

Lonnie was visited by his friend Frederick, a security agent, in the hospital after an accident that left him with an injured arm. The cop then wished his friend a quick recovery and handed him free trip tickets to Costa Rica. The trip was another security mission for Lonnie, contrary to his wife, Clarissa, who thought the trip was a vacation. And as expected, things got worse for Lonnie and his family in Costa Rica. The drug cartels he was spying on knew his intentions and started hunting him down. With his wife and a child barely one year old, they were forced to run for their dear lives. For days, without enough food and water, they ran through bushes and a snake-infested cane plantation with an angry and armed gang behind them. Finally, they got a good samaritan who offered them food and a roof to shelter under, but the guy turned out to be a traitor. Did Lonnie and his family survive the hostility in Costa Rica, especially after Frederick's plan to evacuate them failed?

This book is very relatable to readers because its themes, like drug abuse, crime, romance, and betrayal, are also present in real life. Therefore, readers will absorb the message quickly. I also liked how David Griffith frequently alternated between first-person and third-person narrations in this book. This alternation enables readers to connect and understand events from Lonnie's perspective and the gang's perspective. Another thumbs up for this book is how the author used simple vocabulary. The book is easy to read and understand because no complicated terms are used. Furthermore, I enjoyed how the author detailed action scenes in his book. It was done so deeply that readers could visualize the events being narrated. I desperately want to watch a movie about this book.

Without Redemption was professionally edited. I only encountered a single error. Nevertheless, I loved the story, the plot, and the flow and enjoyed every chapter of this fantastic book. Therefore, I will rate it 4 out of 4 stars. It has way too many positives as compared to its negatives.

This book will perfectly suit people who are interested in crime stories. Also, as seen in this book, the bonding between Lonnie and his family during their difficult moments will be valuable to parents.
