[Following is a volunteer review of "Animal Village" by Nelda LaTeef.]
Animal Village by Nelda LaTeef is a story out of Africa. A village entirely populated by animals has a big problem. There is no water. The country is dry, and no rain has fallen. They have to work together to fix the problem, but what can they do? To find out, you must read this entertaining children’s book!
The cover and illustrations for this book are so appropriate. The artwork is brilliant and creative. It showcases the beauty of Africa and its unique and dramatic country. Each image is singularly impressive, and I found myself absorbed in the details of every page.
The character development in this book is exceptional. As the turtle led the group, there was a transformation in how they saw each other and their world. The spirit of community and working together during difficult times is one of the most valuable messages offered in this story. I loved the emphasis on a simple solution to the big problem faced by everyone.
The references to the habits of different animals and birds are educational and fascinating. This book teaches the concept of working together while celebrating the differences in the animal kingdom. I enjoyed the simplicity of the views expressed by the animals, and the story is immersive. Kids will love this story.
I found no negatives to mention for this work. The overall mood of this book is one of peace. I wanted to stay in this story and kept going back over it again and again to enjoy each page. Hanging on to hope in the midst of hard work and toil is a good lesson for anyone who reads this book. I recommend it to young readers. It will appeal most to readers who appreciate stories about nature that share great lessons. It is exceptionally well edited and free of errors. It has achieved a rating of 4 out of 4 stars!
