The book, The Party Line is a science fiction cum memoir of the author Dennis D. Gagnon. In this book, the author goes back into his memory and narrates his stories of the time when he was a teenager who visited the extrasensory aethereal realm in an unconscious state.

This book is around 247 pages long divided into 19 chapters. The story begins with the author sharing his experiences and bond with his best friend D., and how he used hypnosis on his friends and self-hypnosis on himself to convince himself of whatever he wanted. Even as a child, the author was always interested in aliens, extrasensory perceptions, etc. During this time, he came across the party-line theory of consciousness. And while exploring more about this and the aethereal realm, his best friend D. got murdered by a monster who came back as a ghost to take revenge on the beast that killed him. So, if you want to know more about the unconscious world and discover what happened to the beast, then you will have to read this book.

Firstly, I must say that I loved the storyline of the book. The concepts of the aethereal realm, beasts, hypnosis, etc. are fascinating. I highly appreciate the author’s writing and narration. It was so effective that it seemed as though I was witnessing all the scenes while I was reading the book. The biggest appeal for me is that this book has deep hidden messages for the readers, which I think is unusual to find in fantasy novels. Two of my favorite quotes from the book are, “Do not cause unnecessary suffering” and “Don’t feed the beast.” I also like the fact that the author has beautifully explained the concept of party line and how a human mind can be programmed to make the impossible, possible. This story has many twists and turns that kept me hooked till the end. None of the parts seemed unnecessary or monotonous.

All in all, I had a great time reading this book. There is nothing that I disliked about this. This book seems to be well edited, as I did not find any errors while reading. With that being said, I rate The Party Line 4 out of 4 stars. I have no reason to rate this any lower.

I highly recommend this book to people who are interested in aethereal world and extraterrestrial species. This is also suitable for those who enjoy reading fantasy and sci-fi novels. This book may not be the best for people who are sensitive to the above-mentioned subjects.

D and the author seem to be friends before and after death. This shows a very strong bond. I enjoyed reading your review, and it was very intriguing.

I just read another review that rated this book way lower, and I was really disappointed about it since the plot is truly captivating. After your review, I will definitely give it a try: I am glad you had a great time. Thank you ;)

I am fascinated by how Mr. Gagnon could remember enough from a childhood encounter to write such an entertaining book.I am sorry for the loss of his friend, D., but the realization of the beast sounds like great fantasy.
