[Following is a volunteer review of "Bitcoin Answered" by Jon Law.]
With the ever-increasing hype about Bitcoin and claims of its expanding economic importance, this book comes in handy in case we want to learn more about it. Are you new to this field and have no idea what Bitcoin is? Even better! This book will answer all of your Bitcoin-related questions, from the most basic to the most advanced.
Bitcoin Answered: A Beginner’s Guide to Everything Bitcoin is a well-researched and meticulously written guide to beginners with zero knowledge about Bitcoin. The book is structured in a question-and-answer format, with chapter titles acting as questions and chapters being the answers. This style of writing is innovative and simple to understand. The questions are straightforward and basic, starting from the definition and origin of Bitcoin to how it grew in popularity and impacted economies around the world, as well as where it is in today's market. So it basically covers the past, present, and future of Bitcoin. Not only were the benefits and significance of Bitcoin highlighted, but also the risks, trust value, and conspiracy theories were thoroughly explained and elaborated. As a result, it covered both the positive and negative aspects so that we know exactly what we're getting ourselves into.
I give this book a 4 out of 4 stars. I personally felt that it did justice to the book title as no prior knowledge was required to read and understand this piece of text. I liked how the Bitcoin lingo was gradually introduced. In addition to the explanations provided in the chapters, there is a glossary at the end of the book to which we can refer if necessary, which was really useful. There were also links to YouTube channels, books on this topic, podcasts links, and references given. The text was illustrated using diagrams, flow charts, tables, and different kinds of art. There was also a part where it was said about how we can explain Bitcoin to a 5-year-old. The explanation was so in detail that it even said where we should capitalize Bitcoin and where not to.
I would not really call it a drawback, although the text might be a little repetitive at times. I understand the objective of this is to emphasize key concepts at regular intervals so that we may remember them and understand them better. However, people who already have a basic understanding of how Bitcoin works will find some parts of the book to be repetitive. The book is slow-paced as it is more of a study or research paper but nowhere in the book did I lose interest or skip pages.
I definitely recommend this book to all the young aspirants and those who have no idea about Bitcoin but would want to join the crowd. The information is legit, well-edited, and professionally written. The chapters were short, with intriguing titles that held the reader's attention. Jon Law and Alan John have done a wonderful job of bringing out the working of Bitcoin from the very basic. I hope you find the book to be as beneficial to you as it was to me. Happy reading!
