Self-acceptance has become a challenge to the author for a long time due to the issues he encountered while growing up. From getting not feeling loved by his father, and other men he encountered in his life. He tries to search for love in every person he encounters. The author wants to be loved and accepted the way he is.

Don’t Mind Me, I’m Just having a Bad Life is a memoir by Lewis Kempfer. It is divided into 400 pages with three subchapters, with each chapter explaining the author’s life while growing up. The author encounters a traumatic experience at such a young age, this is a bad foundation for every child. He grew up in a violent home, the father used to abuse his mother, and also he didn’t like him because he was not good at things he wanted him to do. Kempfer spent all of his life being accepted by looking for love everywhere he goes. The author lost faith at such a young age because he felt like his prayers weren’t answered. Do you want to know how the story unfolds? Get yourself a copy.

I like the author’s style of writing as the book was subdivided into small chapters which I could easily follow. The themes in the book were very diverse from love to family, to betrayal. The wording on the pages was not overcrowded as he used an average of 250 words per page. The book was very thrilling with a lot of suspense, it’s like the story is made up but it is his real-life story.

I liked several things about the book, including the way the author didn’t give up on his dream. He may have lost his way but still had something he could hold on to. He wanted to be something more despite all the challenges. I liked the way the author still had hope of finding love despite all the trials and errors he had experienced.

The book was very detailed and professionally edited explaining every experience the author went through in his childhood till adulthood. The cover page of the book was as captivating and appealing to the eye, the title of the book was well chosen, indeed Mr. Kempfer never disappointed, he met my expectations.

I did have dislikes; the story can be very depressing because the author comes from a dark place. Also, racial prejudice is still a challenge even in our modern society, we need to learn to appreciate each other. The book also had domestic violence, and awareness about it should be addressed. Besides that, the book was inspiring, I’ll therefore give this amazing book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars and would recommend it to anyone who has a challenge of being accepted or having a tough time navigating through life.
