Review of JTs World
JT's World by E. Alan Fleischauer is a 474-page fantasy book about the life and adventures of James Thurgood Thomas, who became rich after discovering a gold mine in Colorado. JT decided to build an entertainment complex in Scarsdale, Arizona that includes a hotel, a bar, a restaurant, a Ferris wheel, and a theater for his actor/singer daughter Madeline to perform at. Those are to name a few of the many attractions that the complex has. After the horrific events that happened on opening day, which were the deaths of several employees, JT decided, after the constant persuasion of his friends and daughter, to go to Colorado to collect the cattle that were purchased for the complex while destressing from all the work that he had to do. The story begins there, with the people and events he meets on his way to Colorado.
What I liked about the book was how easy and fresh it was. Even though it was written about the old times of cowboys and recession, my reading flew so smoothly because of how simple the writing was. I also enjoyed the character of Buck. He was very amusing in telling his grandma's jokes. He added a fun touch to all the violence and murders that were in the story. I also found the character of JT very admirable. Even though he murdered many people, he was a very kind and charitable man who couldn't forget his first love and fiancé, Annabelle, who was murdered by Marcus Payne, who tried to frame the murder on JT. There was no chance that you could hate him.
There wasn't anything that I disliked about the book. Even though it was filled with violence and murder, it gave a compassionate feel to the story because of the characters' personalities and the plot of the story.
I would give this book a 4 out of 4 stars because the plot far exceeded my expectations, the characters were well developed and related to real-life at the time, and the settings and characters were realistic. I did find some grammatical and typing mistakes, but that didn't affect my enjoyment and liking of the story.
I would recommend this book to people who are interested in cowboy stories with a mix of real-life events and romance delight. The book has profane language, violence, and sexual scenes, so I wouldn't encourage underage children to read it.
