A Brighter Tomorrow is a unique collection of poems by Lori Schneider. It contains some beautiful artworks and photographs by Mark Salevitz. I call it unique because of the situation that inspired it — the pandemic that shook the world to its foundation. Lori knew she could write and decided to express herself with these beautiful poems during the COVID-19 lockdown. The poems express love, hope and encouragement for the frontline workers during this period. They also express the beautiful memories the poet holds dear to herself.

I must confess peace, joy, and hope are genuinely contagious emotions. While reading through this collection, these positive emotions expressed in the poems enveloped me. There are beautiful pictures of artworks accompanying each poem, and they create a colourful effect.

The poem is divided into five parts which speak about five different themes. They are: The Creative Process, Pandemic 2020, Injustice, Courage, Love and Hope, which lead to A Bright Tomorrow. Each of these parts has a unique colour. The poet also includes related quotes from notable persons like Deepak Chopra, Johnny Corn, Robert J. Kennedy, Harper Lee, Anne Frank and Helen Keller.

My favourite poem is Hope. It rekindles my faith in life. It energises me to keep pushing even when it seems to me that there is no light at the end of the tunnel. I could feel how the writer's emotions gave energy to my actual emotions; it was surreal. The Creative Process expresses how the poet carries out her writing process and how she breaks her writer's block. Be The Light is a clarion call to everyone. It emphasises how we are supposed to be the light in the darkness of injustice in our society. Indeed, we are meant to be the light that ends all ignorance.

The poet carefully uses rhymes to bring out the beauty of each poem. The rhymes add a little more colour to the whole book. On a good day, I don't enjoy reading poems because of how complex the messages may be. However, A Brighter Tomorrow contains simple satiric expressions which readers can easily relate to and understand.

I did not find any errors while reading this book, and as a result, it is exceptionally edited. There is nothing to dislike about it, so I will rate the book 4 out of 4 stars.

I recommend the book to lovers of art and anyone who enjoys or appreciates poems.

Joy is truly contagious. While the pandemic destroyed a lot of things, it did inspire a lot of creativity. I would love to read these poems. Your review is great.
