Review of A Dream For Peace
A Dream for Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a memoir that exposes the life and experiences of the author, who is an Algerian citizen. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is the only son of his parents, who quickly metamorphoses into a political activist. His dream is to free his country (Algeria) from French colonisation. After achieving this, he wishes to free other African countries from the colonisation of some foreign nations. He is also involved in the dialogue to establish peace between Palestine and Israel. Later on in his life, he became a medical doctor after studying in the United States of America. He is so gifted and talented in many ways that he became the first scientist to propose a concept for the 'Reverse Transcriptase Enzymes.' Though a Muslim, he marries a Christian woman. There are many fascinating things to know about Dr. Ghoulem's inspiring life; find out for yourself when you read.
Dr. Ghoulem Berrah goes beyond helping his patients by just being a highly principled doctor. He becomes a freedom fighter, a revolutionary ambassador, a peace seeker, a scientist, and a diplomat. In short, he is a visionary with great hope for the future. His story is a form of encouragement to countries fighting for independence. I was particularly touched by the level of sacrifice the author went through to bring freedom to his country and other African countries. He simply lived for others as he was selfless in pursuing his vision. The author's character gives deep insight into those individuals who want to venture into the struggle for freedom for their countries. His life is entirely worthy of emulation. He displayed great determination, courage, and focus in his quest for freedom.
This powerful book gave me a lot of insight into the political dynamics in Africa. The writer uses simple language, which makes the work easy to understand. It is detailed and can be used as a teaching tool in many higher institutions to educate coming generations about navigating their way around vision pursuit. It can also be used to teach African colonial and post-colonial history. The storyline of this book is quite didactic and informative; it serves as a guide to the political dynamics in post-colonial Africa. I loved the author's selfless contributions to many diplomatic missions in Algeria and other countries. For an individual who desires it, this book serves as a motivational tool for fulfilling peace.
My favourite part was the author's tribute to his wife, telling her how much he loved her. I love this part because it shows that the author did not, at any point, allow his vision in life to relegate the love he has for his wife. This is a lesson for all the visionaries in the world today. There is nothing I dislike in the book; it has given me direction on how to go about life while pursuing my dream. It is properly written and professionally edited. There was no error in the book.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I have gained undeniable insight into how to establish my vision because of all the information and inspiration garnered from this beautiful piece of non-fiction. The author's storyline and writing style are exceptional. I recommend this book to anyone interested in African history, colonialism, or politics.
