[Following is a volunteer review of "Chrome Mountain" by Ben Schneider.]
After being abused by her boyfriend who was a gang leader, Sonya decided to seek a better life. She stole the gang's money and headed out on her Harley. She now had a target on her back. The gang wanted her dead. She decided to stay with her sick grandmother, who passed away three years later. Not sure where to hide from the vicious gang, Sonya asked God for a sign. When she finished praying, she saw a helicopter and decided to follow it. That is how she met Trey. He was a scientist who invented a device that could make things invisible. The most notorious terrorist group, The Chrome Falcon, wanted him to build some of these devices for them. Together, Trey and Sonya tried to evade the terrorist group and tried to prove to the police that they were not part of the group.
As far as suspenseful books go, this one was above average. The author took his readers on an adrenaline-inducing journey as we waited with bated breaths to see if the duo would be captured or killed. This story is full of action and suspense. The character development is also well done. Trey was one of the most developed characters and one of my favorite. He went from a humble nerdy guy to a gun-shooting, cop-evading man. The chemistry between Sonya and Trey was also strong. It's amazing how bad situations can cause total strangers to become the best of friends.
There were no negative aspects to this book. Although it contained a lot of fighting, there were also a lot of hilarious moments. Although they were in a life-threatening situation, Trey was always having silly thoughts that were very funny. I must commend the author on a well-written plot. This book would make an excellent action movie. It has all the right elements.
Chrome Mountain by Ben Schneider deserves a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I found the book hard to put down, so I couldn't give it a lower rating. It was also exceptionally well-edited. I did not find a single typing or grammatical error. The editing team also did a good job.
This book contains high levels of action, crime, and violence. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes reading fast-paced action stories. If you like reading about terrorist groups, gangs, and how they operate, this is the perfect book to read.
