Review of Shine a Light

[Following is a volunteer review of "Shine a Light" by Nicky Corcoran.]
In this work of Fiction: the author takes issues straight from the headlines, flavors them with her own taste of rhythm and meter, then feeds you this delicious dish of poetry.
“Happiness is a spectrum from hope to ecstatic mood
It resembles all that is good
It lifts you up high from being down
And replaces on your face a smile instead of a frown”
(excerpt from "Happiness")
Nicky Corcorans Shine a Light, leaves you searching for the good in those around you, acknowledging your own vulnerability, and inspires you to find ways to advocate in your own community. I highly recommend this book to all who enjoy poetry. The authors ability to cover so many topics from the Elite British Army Paras to LGBTQIA+ advocacy, all the way to the hormonal changes of menopause, leaves a little for everyone. I give this book of Poems a rating of 4 out of 4 stars.
