Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We are voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a brilliantly written work of fiction featuring the imaginary world of voulhire. The author has done a great job of introducing us to the world of Voulhire. The book doesn't disappoint and is surely a must read.
The book has three hundred pages and introduces us to the kingdom of Voulhire, its surroundings, "the land of the princes," and the history, origin, and culture of Voulhire. Magic and conflict take center stage in this world.
Galen Bray comes to visit to claim the estate of his uncle, who has recently passed away. To get to Voulhire, he has to overcome a lot of challenges as he comes from a war-ravaged country. As he arrives, a series of troubling events are happening in Voulhire that require the attention of the king in the southern part of the country. These lead to changes of leadership from Orlin to Lord Meldorath, who is also deposed shortly after and replaced by Lord Eldus. To find out more about these storylines and how they all connect, get yourself a copy of this amazing book.
First and foremost, I would like to applaud the editors of the book for a job well done, as I did not find any errors in the book. This added to the overall beauty of the book. I loved how the author was vivid in his elucidations of various aspects of life in Voulhire. This helped create a mental picture of the kingdom. For instance, as he explains the entrance of Lord Meldorath in the prologue and how he uses his magic to fight the guards of Lord Orlin, it's like watching a movie. He does a good job of describing other towns in Voulhire, like Soulhire, which is the capital and the rich town of Virko. I also loved how organized the book is. The characters are introduced systematically and well developed, which makes one anticipate a really climatic end. The author also utilizes suspence very well, keeping the reader glued to the book.
There is nothing to dislike about the book. A lot of suspense and storylines can be weary, but not in this book, which is filled with thrilling adventure. I enjoyed the book from the start to the end, and the suspense only kept me looking forward to what mysteries the next chapters would offer.
I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars as it is absolutely interesting, well narrated, and doesn't have any editorial errors. I would recommend the book to readers who enjoy fiction featuring conflict and magic.
