Review of There's a Rooster in My Bathroom!
“No day is perfect. Every day is perfectly interesting”- Trisha Ostroski
This comical and sparkling self-help book is a beautiful instrument in voyaging the complexities of our lives in a fun but genuine way, and just like the title; There’s a rooster in my bathroom! This magnificent memoir will catch your attention and draw you into each chapter of the book as Trisha shares her personal life experiences and lessons that correlate to the core meaning of this memoir.
Trisha Ostroski’s book has a theme that shares a poppy and fun structure within the chapters. It illustrates true stories from her life in the many different careers she has come into and the various roles she has played that make each chapter very interesting as we learn more and more about Trisha. Each chapter is constructed the same, where she charms you with her compelling stories from her life. At the end of each chapter, she shares weighty quotes and lessons that help the reader individually, depending on their circumstance. I love that in every chapter, you learn something about yourself or ask yourself questions you haven't asked before. As you read, you can observe how her writing style threads into each sentence, which is one of the main reasons I see this as a high-value book.
One of my favorite parts was when Trish shared a story about her delivering holiday gifts to impoverished families. She illustrates how she gets to treat a little girl to a beautifully wrapped up present on Christmas and the emotion of seeing her eyes light up with joy; Trisha takes us through the heart-wrenching feeling of serving that community and what it was like to be a part of something so profound just through small acts of love, and as a person who came from an impoverished family, small actions like these that I encountered as a child changed my life and planted seeds of aspirations within me; I honestly can say this was one of the accounts that touched my heart in such a meaningful way and changed my perception of the author as well as opened my eyes to more projects I could do in my community. This small passage of the many adventures and lessons the book entails is the tip of the iceberg as the Book delves into Trisha's work in the Peace Corps, her career as a hypnotherapist, theater and Marketing, celebrities, and much more. Her counsel throughout the book has an emotional beat that encapsulates the reader and makes every chapter unique.
There were no negative qualities that I could pick up from this book except that for meticulous people, the repetitiveness in the structure of the chapters could be unsavory; this book does not contain any religions or follow any doctrines for the lessons in the book. I highly recommend this book for any age (except for children) to read that are looking for genuine advice and direction in their lives; it is easy to read and grammatically edited very well, with no errors or typos that I saw as I was reading and it does not distract you from the book. With that said, I would rate this book four out of four stars as Trisha terrifically assembled this book.
Overall, Trisha Ostroski is a fantastic author; it was a joy to learn about her life through her creative narrative style. Any pre-teen to adult that feels they find interest or can resonate with this review, please give this book a shot, and you will not be disappointed.
