R.F. Kristi’s Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat is a highly entertaining book that will delight kids with the adventures of Inca the cat and his fellow kitties. I loved this book from the very first page. Inca’s “mom” (which is what he calls his human owner) has brought the kitties to the island of Sri Lanka for a holiday. At first, they’re mainly focused on relaxing near the lovely blue water. But soon they’re caught up in an adventure. Someone has stolen a valuable sword and other objects from a museum on the island. Inca is excited about helping since he runs Inca & Company, a detective agency. The story follows Inca’s exploits as he works with the kitties and some other friends, including Rani the turtle, Meena the elephant, and Terrance the dog to help solve the mystery of the stolen treasure.

This book has an array of positive aspects. The illustrations are fantastic, and the characters are quite charming. One of my favorites was Fromage, a kitty that loves cheese. The storyline is creative and engaging. I also enjoyed that the setting was in Sri Lanka, a place that is on my wish list to visit. The author included several interesting points about Sri Lanka, such as the presence of UNESCO World Heritage Sites there. I appreciate it when books feature faraway lands as they help teach kids about other parts of the world.

Another nice feature was that there were some valuable lessons integrated into the story. For example, even though Inca knew that Fromage was clumsy, he allowed him to come along on the quest to find the thieves. By doing so, he demonstrated kindness and tolerance. The lesson on cooperation was also well-developed. The kitties cooperated with Terrance, their dog friend, as well as with the elephants that were their neighbors.

I don’t have any criticisms of the book. I thought it was beautifully written and wonderfully illustrated. While some books for children can be too basic, this one was interesting and compelling.

Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat is an excellent book. It is also exceptionally well edited. This book deserves the highest rating, so I rated it 4 out of 4 stars.

I recommend this book to children ages 7 to 11. Kids will have fun immersing themselves in the story, and they may even imagine themselves taking part in a similar adventure to find stolen treasure.
