Cancer has proven to be one of the deadliest diseases which is almost incurable. Most people usually consider being diagnosed with cancer a death sentence. The book, Winning the War on Cancer: The Epic Journey Towards a Natural Cure, written by Sylvie Beljanski, details a story of how little-known natural treatments for cancer have been suppressed and how these natural treatments could revolutionise the fight against cancer. It is a book that is written in light of the author’s experience with her father, who was a pioneer of natural treatments for cancer.

Dr. Mirko Beljanski, the father of Sylvie Beljanski, discovered two plant extracts, Pao Pereira and Rauwolfia Vomitoria, that were potent in treating cancer. The most impressive thing about these extracts was that they could be used without facing the side effects that are usually associated with chemotherapy. All of a sudden, under the pretext that Dr. Beljanski’s research was harmful, the French authorities sent military police to raid Dr. Beljanski’s lab, confiscating all cancer-related materials and research work. Sylvie Beljanski, who was also an attorney, received the news with trepidation. She vowed to keep her father’s research in motion while, at the same time, she also endeavoured to prove her father’s innocence.

Winning the War on Cancer: The Epic Journey Towards a Natural Cure, is an excellent book, and I didn’t find any errors in it. One important thing about the book is that it is very educative as far as the issue of cancer is concerned. The author does a great job at combining her personal story while at the same time providing useful information on cancer. I found the fact that the two extracts found by Dr. Beljanski, Pao Pereira and Rauwolfia Vomitoria, were potent enough even to cure infertility, to be an insightful discovery. The information provided in the book is well researched and presented in a simple-to-understand manner. I like that the book exposed some bad practices of some big pharmaceutical companies that are backed by the government. I also like the author’s writing style, vivid and captivating. This is more apparent in Chapter 2, where the author makes the book sound like a thriller novel.

I didn’t find anything I disliked about the book, although some people may struggle with the technical information presented. Thus, my overall rating for the book is 4 out of 4 stars.

I recommend the book to those who are interested in reading about cancer treatment. Those who enjoy delving into issues concerning alternative medicines would love reading this book. Anyone who loves reading scientific literature would also find this book enjoyable. Lastly, any lover of educative non-fiction books will find this book to be a great read.
