[Following is a volunteer review of "Thin Places" by Diane Owens Prettyman.]
Finn Tully, a man who had some wrong doings spends some time in prison meet a man on death row, a man who claimed he was innocent and he wanted Finn to find his daughter and tell her. When Finn gets out of prison he goes and sees his mother whose extremely sick . They set out a trip up to Washington where Calvary’s daughter is at. Will Finn be able to explain to Calavry’s daughter about her fathers innocence?
The use of how Diane Owens Prettyman laid everything out with all the detail of every particular place and describes how everything looked can make you really imagine being there. The use of description really sold me on this book. The amount of details especially going from Galveston, Texas to Washington. Prettyman really did her research with the dialogue from a Texas man to a women from Washington standing up for herself and now allowing anyone to call her “Darlin’”.
There were a couple of parts where I kept having reread because I would get confused with how the setting went from one part to another but other than that.
It was a great read being able to having some sassy dialogue between a man and a woman without it being too cheeky or straight being sexualized. I would reread this book again, most young adults to middle aged people would have be enthralled to read this book.
I give this book a 4 out of 4. I really would reread it, it’s got everything I’m personally interested in, a little action, a little romance and some hard hitting words that make you think about life in the thin places.
