As a woman, I appreciate a beautiful bouquet of flowers once in a while, especially during Valentines or after a date. Most ladies actually prefer and mistake roses to be the only desirable flowers in the planet. However, they have not had the opportunity to be in the presence of a blooming orchid.

Orchids are one of the prettiest flowers. They are intricate and breathtakingly beautiful exotic flowers with over 30,000 species, making them the largest family of flowers in the world. Most people think that orchids are the most difficult houseplants to grow, despite the interesting fact that they are adaptable to almost every environment. They would rather view them from afar. However, with the correct information and best attitude, orchids can be easy to grow and nurture. Susan Makar gives guidelines on how to grow five houseplants into almost five hundred marvelous orchids.Windowsill Orchid Growing has masterfully combined valuable information concerning orchids, common mistakes to avoid, and great tips on how and where to find the perfect orchid, the perfect and conducive environment for it and how to keep it alive and thriving whilst enjoying the whole experience.

The book has been expertly written, giving avid flower growers clear instructions on orchid nurturing. It resembles a science textbook with bits of technical wordings and procedure. The book is dotted with pictures of orchids, making the book aesthetically pleasing to read. The pictures also intensify the intended message of the book. Windowsill Orchid Growing has been adequately arranged in the form of well-titled chapters. This arrangement is very effective when a person needs to use the book for future references.

The author has a lot of experience on the subject, and the book itself appears to be well researched and organized for the utmost benefit of the reader. The language is clear and simple to understand, except for the scientific terms. The author takes her time to define these terms clearly, hence little confusion for a first time grower or reader. She also gives links and more books in her reference section, giving an ardent grower of orchids the zeal to gain more knowledge.

I could not find any shortcomings in Windowsill Orchid Growing. The book appears to be exceptionally well-edited, as there were no grammatical errors present. Overall, I give the book four out of four stars. I would recommend this book to beginner orchid growers as it effectively covers many fantastic guidelines on how to successfully grow orchids at home.
