Catherine Anna Pepe wrote the children's book, Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventure. Because Donny exists, it's both fictional and non-fictional. A portion of this storybook is based on her real-life experiences with her family.

Mr. and Mrs. Miller's children are Donny and Mary Grace. Mary Grace is the older sister, and Donny, the younger brother with Down syndrome, is the younger brother. Donny is a happy kid who smiles at everyone he meets. These two children enjoy going to the zoo. Mr. and Mrs. Millers receive bad news for their children one day. As the father is a priest, they will relocate to Africa for missionary work, while the children will live with their grandparents, Granny Cathy and Papa Steve, in California. Mary Grace is afraid of going to a new school, changing her environment, and making new friends. But Mary Grace is in for a surprise and some unexpected adventures. Will her fear subside or not?

This story flows beautifully. It's simple to follow and comprehend. The grammar used is straightforward and simple. With only 249 pages, it's also a quick read. I particularly enjoyed the plot development. Mary Grace progressed from being terrified to dispensing brilliant ideas. My favorite character is her. She's sharp, inquisitive, kind, and compassionate, and she's always willing to listen. Her ability to reason and listen solved the mystery.

Similarly, the book serves as a lesson for people with Down syndrome's parents, relatives, neighbors, friends, siblings, and acquaintances. It's difficult enough to be diagnosed with the syndrome. As a result, we should take our time with them. Their feelings are easily hurt, so it is best if people are gentle with them. To be honest, these people are aware that they are unique and different from everyone else. As a result, no one should ever point it out to them again. The languages to use with them are love and care.

I discovered something amusing here. Donny's speech is well-crafted. I've met many people with Down syndrome, but they don't have this trait. It's not a criticism of the book. That's all I've noticed.

I give this 4 out of 4 stars because I enjoyed the story. Short and sweet. While reading, I discovered no error while reading. As a result, it's acceptable to say it's exceptionally edited.

This would be appropriate for children aged 7 to 12. Children younger than this age may find the plot difficult to follow, while those older may believe they are more mature than this book.

Down syndrome is really serious and needs more attention and love from those suffering from it in the world. Great review

I think this book just gives more information about down syndrome. So many people still don't know how to be sensitive when dealing with people who've got it.

Mary Grace is such a sweet character. I love how she prioritizes her brother, Donny and looks out for him. Everyone should have a Mary Grace in their lives. I also appreciate Catherine Anna Pepe for using this medium to talk about Down syndrome and bullying which are quite common in kids.
