Of the Earth by Kim Cousins is a captivating novel that is set in the end time. When all the governments of the world collapse, there comes a New World Order. It is governed by one sovereign leader. All the currencies are overthrown, and the New World Order introduces a digital cryptocurrency. In order to trade in this New World Order, the people have to have the mark of the beast on their foreheads or right hands. The mark is an allegiance to the New World Order and anyone who refuses to have this mark has automatically signed their death sentence.

The story in Of the Earth starts violently. A man refuses to pay allegiance to the New World Order. He sticks to his Christian faith. In accordance with the law, he deserves to die. The PeaceKeepers unhesitatingly beat him to death. His puppy is left alone, but she soon finds a mate called Carl who is an orange cat. The two animals get to meet Jim who is an Army veteran. The three embark on a journey to the mountains to search for Jim's friends. Read Kim's fictional story to find out what ensues from this thrilling adventure.

The first thing I liked about this book was that the author outlined a list of characters found in the book. I liked this feature because I usually write down the list of characters when I read a book. But in this case, the author spared me the time to do so. Another positive aspect I found in this book was the flow of events. I enjoyed how concurrent some of the events were. The author nicely switched from one event to another. This made my reading experience feel like watching a movie. I also liked the style of writing because I could easily follow the storyline.

The dialogue among animals was a good idea, but I didn't like the fact that few conversations took place among animals I would have enjoyed if more animals talked with each other for example the horses, goats and cattle. I wasn't satisfied with the graphics in the book. I would have liked it if more were added.

However, those two things above did not prevent me from enjoying reading the book. Therefore, due to an excellent well-thought plot, I rate Kim Cousins' Of the Earth a 4 out of 4 stars.

I recommend this book to lovers of mystery, drama and thrilling novels. I also recommend this book to readers who like novels which are based on faith.
