[Following is a volunteer review of "Man Mission" by Eytan Uliel.]
Man Mission by Eytan Ulliel is a remarkable tale about friendship and adventure. It narrates the life of an ordinary group of men who live ordinary lives. They strive to achieve the ideal life that they have been taught is the sole purpose of a man's existence.
The story is unfolded over the course of 15 years, in which Eytan and his friends, Sam, Daniel and Alec create an annual trip that consists of ‘manly’ tasks, survival skills and many hilarious and embarrassing stories. In the 15 years, they also experience the norms of life as they fall in love and commit to marriage, build their families and careers and face the hardships that are present in any ordinary man’s life. Eytan and his friends suffer through the stereotypes and struggle to survive as the men they are expected to become. Man Mission is a story of life and manhood in an intriguing narration that will brighten the days of anyone who reads it with every adventure the group of men experience.
The book is edited remarkably with no noted errors. I love the fact that the author has done his research and describes different places in various countries in an exceptional manner, making the story quite immersive as a reader. The story links very closely with real life scenarios and it feels as though we are looking into the life of any common man that we might personally know. The character development is intriguing as you can clearly see the growth of the characters in their lives through the 15 years in the chapters of the book. The story explores the sensitive topic of manhood and masculinity in a way that efficiently delivers the required emotions and tone without being offensive.
There is absolutely nothing in this book that I dislike. It is a masterpiece that I recommend must be read by those who seek thrill in adventure and conquest and those readers who are not afraid of facing the reality of what men endure in our societies. I also recommend this book to those who love to travel and experience new things. However, I do not recommend this book to readers who prefer mystical and fictional backgrounds as Man Mission draws its content from real life.
In a nutshell, Man Mission is a journey that shows us how a group of men try to become ‘real men’ in order to fit in a society that pressurizes them to become people they are not.
Ulliel has incredibly crafted Man Mission in a way that readers will be obliged to read the book till the last page. I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars as the story, characters and descriptions of places was brilliantly written with no errors.
