[Following is a volunteer review of "Smart Love" by Vincent Fudge II.]
When a particular incident with his wife, Ebony puts Edward in jail, he is forced to re-evaluate his marriage, his behavior, the way he lived his life till now. Edward decides to save his marriage with his wife by introducing a year-long project SMART love. Edward and Ebony are trying to navigate their experiences, lifestyle and upbringing after years of being in a toxic relationship.
SMART Love by Vincent Fudge II is a documented book of a couple’s journey navigating the rough patches/ phases of their relationship. Healthy communication is a key to every relationship is what we have heard, but this book shows us that it truly is a way to make a relationship work.
This book was very insightful. It also navigates the inner turmoil, uncertainties, insecurities a person faces when they are in a toxic relationship. It showed me that you can make a relationship work if you put efforts into it and if they are reciprocated. I learned that having empathy towards each other, understanding each other’s personality, healthy communication, willingness to talk about your problems with your partner without judgment can save a relationship. I realized through this book that relationships are indeed not rainbows and butterflies. It can be tough sometimes as well. It is up to our desire to make it work and our love for our person that makes the difference
What I liked about this book is the depiction of reality a couple faces in their lives on daily basis. The realistic struggles that make us relate to the couple. The deliberate details he put in this book so that the readers can relate to the characters on a personal level.
I have nothing negative to say about this book. It was well written and professionally edited. The author did a great job mentioning the details in an easy-to-understand way. This was an emotionally heavy book for me but knowledgeable all the same. So, I would like to give this book 4 out of 4 stars.
I would like to recommend this book especially to people who are going through a difficult phase in their relationship. I am sure it will help them navigate their relationship more successfully. Furthermore, I would also like to recommend this book to singles who wish to be in a relationship. It will surely give them an idea that giving up is not the only option.
