[Following is a volunteer review of "Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula" by R.F. Kristi.]
Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula by R.F. Kristi is a children's book with an entertaining storyline. It is a story about cats employing their detective skills in a rescue endeavor in North Korea, just as the book title rightly describes.
Inca is a Siberian cat and the leader of a detective organization. Her crew comprises Cara, Fromage, Solo, a human, and many more of his friends and family. Missy (Inca's mom) was invited to be one of the South and North Korean cooking competition's top judges. On their way to the competition, they encounter Enzo, who tries to steal her cheese. Will Inca and her crew catch Enzo? How do the cat detectives carry out their detective activities? Find these things out when you read this book.
In animal stories, everything is possible, such as cats and dogs forgoing their enemity and living in harmony. We see how Tarrence (a dog) and Inca ( a cat) cooperate to do their detective duties. The author, R. F. Kristi, created a wonderful and entertaining story by creating a world in which humans and animals interact at a more pristine level.
There are many positive aspects that I found in this book. The first is the way the author wields words. I commend her for how she gave a vivid comparison of North and South Korea. She is so talented with words that you can't help but be mesmerized by her skills. The pictorial representations present are one of the aspects of the book that children will love. It brought the story to life and made it all the more enjoyable. The fact that it is a fascinating story that is short is a bonus. Also, the language is simple and makes the whole reading experience seamless. For the above reasons, I am rating Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula a 4 out of 4 stars.
Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula is a book that teaches teamwork. Children will benefit a lot from the knowledge and morals found in it. The courage and commitment of each character is something any child that reads it cannot easily forget. Therefore, I recommend this book to younger readers and adults who love animal stories. Those who enjoy detective and investigative books will enjoy this book too.
I couldn't find anything negative about this book. Having her target audience in mind, the author made sure not to use profane words. The book was also well edited, as I found no errors while reading it.
