The Magician's Secret by Charles Townsend is a work of fiction about the war between two Kingdom, Hengel and Argent. The war started when Princess Fionella of Argent visits the Kingdom of Hengel but she wasn't able to come back home. Duke of Hengel was captivated by her beauty, and fall in love with her. Then, here comes Delvin, a magician. He was captured, and accused for an attempted murder of the Duke of Hengel but it happened that Princess Jarla, daughter of Duke, helped him. Why did Princess Jarla helped Delvin? Get a copy of this book to find out.

What drew my attention in picking up this book is the book cover. As the book title, it is like there is magic in it that I should grab the book. I like the author's profound imagination. Charles Townsend wrote the story with surprises. I was consumed when I found out the truth about Princess Fionella and the Duke of Argent. I became thrilled when I found out the impersonation of Maegar. Delvin also has a big role in the story. He was very helpful for the safety of the Duke and Princesses. With their escapade, Delvin counterpart a lot of effort. It was not easy for them but they surpass it. I was just curious of the magician's stone. Delvin is not belong to the Guild of Magicians but why did he performed magic that is beyond expectation? Moreover, I am very glad about the ending story. As I avoid spoilers, potential readers themselves will find it out.

If there is one aspect of this book which partially irritates me, it is the writing style. Some story line is hard to grasp. I found out that Charles Townsend has quite unique writing style which is not very suitable to me. I would say this book is good for advance readers. Some plot also is too descriptive, and I found it unnecessary.

In summary, The Magician's Secret is not good for beginners because of what I said above. However, I was carried away by the whole story. I can still say, it was a good read. Quite honestly, it doesn't really satisfy me much, but it might be a very interesting book to other readers.

Furthermore, the book format was good. I also found it professionally edited because I only spot a few typographical errors. Therefore, I would rate The Magician's Secret three out of four stars because it affected by the negative aspect I mentioned above.

As a result, I would recommend this book to adults, advance readers, and to lovers of fiction.

This sounds like an interesting fantasy book. I am intrigued by the magician's stone and also by Delvin's escapades. I wonder why Delvin attempted to murder the Duke of Hengel. I will have to see for myself! Thank you for your honest review of the book.
