Winning the War on Cancer is a book written by Sylvie Beljanski. President Richard Nixon signed into law the National Cancer Act. Over a million dollars was allocated for cancer research. However, it seems more people keep dying from cancer despite this research. This book gives details of the journey against cancer. In this book, the author argues that cancer is an industry worth billions, so money is not the problem.

This is an inspiring and educational book. There were many qualities about the author that I considered admirable. Firstly, the author's desire to keep up with the legacy of her father was inspiring. It was great to see Sylvie carrying on with the good works of her father. I liked that the author provided facts and figures. This is proof that thorough research was done. This was an informative book, and it was great to learn about the things I did. I understood the reason natural remedies are unable to thrive in the health industry. It is disheartening to know that the health industry is more concerned about the things that bring a return on financial investment instead of safety. Also, the information on patenting products was insightful.

In addition, the author explains that this book is not intended to replace professional advice. As verifiable as the facts presented in this book were, I liked that the author still encouraged readers to adhere to medical instructions. I liked that the author shared stories about herself. It helped me to relate to this book better. From her personal stories, I learned that our identities matter. As much as we aim to have great credentials and qualifications, some people prefer to learn from our vulnerability. I particularly enjoyed the story about her presentation at the NAVEL Expo. Certain that she was ready for her presentation, she was surprised that no computer or projector was provided for the presentation. I liked how she was able to still deliver a quality message. Truly, there is no reason to be inadequate at the things we do.

This book was professionally edited; I barely came across errors in it. I could not come up with a negative aspect. I enjoyed reading this book. For these reasons, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It was a great read, and I disliked nothing about it.

I recommend this book to readers who want to know more about cancer; there is a lot of helpful information in this book. Health enthusiasts should find this book interesting and insightful.
