In Wild World, Peter S. Rush tells the story of Steve Logan, a young college student planning to go to law school when armed forces opened fire on students peacefully protesting against the Vietnam war on the campus of Kent State University. This despicable act of evil sets off a chain of events and because of this, Steve makes up his mind to join the police force, to the surprise and dissatisfaction of his friends and his girlfriend Roxy. This decision confuses them because their fight is against police brutality and Steve decided to be a part of the men in blue, but they later realize his intentions and support him the best that they can. He believes that he can destroy the rotten core of the police department from the inside out. But is this just a fool's wish? Or something he can actually accomplish?

The historical fiction; Wild World features and talks about a number of serious issues that shape and affect the society we live in today. One of them is the brutality and corruption that exists in the government and police department.

Steve soon realizes that though people may have good intentions, it is not always easy to actualize them, especially when you're surrounded by people trying to make your good efforts go to waste. The author depicts a tale that not only shows the bitter side of life, but also makes it known that a lot of things are definitely easier with friends and loved ones supporting you, just like Steve had Roxy and his friends to lean on in times of trouble.

I would also like to acknowledge the exceptional editing work that was done on this book. It was easy to read and understand without any grammatical flaws getting in the way. I loved the realistic approach Rush took to telling this story, showing that going down the right path is not always a bed of roses. I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars as it was a pleasure to read.

Through the pages of this book, I could sense the numerous high-strung emotions surrounding the characters and I could relate to their struggles from the viewpoint of a reader. I would love to recommend this novel to book lovers who have a soft spot for historical fiction but would advise against children and young teenagers reading it because of its strong language and sexual content.

Steve's commitment to eradicate corruption was commendable and motivational. We need more people like him in our society. Great review!

Steve Logan plans to go to Law School, but on witnessing a riot at his uni, where some students met their demise, he changes his mind and joins the Providence Police Force, hoping to change attitudes on the ground. Sadly, this was difficult to actualise, as not everyone was on his side, as he discovers to his chagrin. A great review, thank you.
