Reconfigurement: Reconfiguring Your Life at Any Stage and Planning Ahead by E. Alan Fleischauer is a book discussing the various methods that any American looking to retire can implement for a smooth retirement process. The author also emphasizes the importance of planning ahead of time because it is easier than waiting until one is old and so close to retirement age. The author begins by noting that, unlike previous generations, most of us today live longer. Alan is a financial and retirement planner, and one of the many concerns his clients have is that they will live too long and run out of money. If you have similar concerns or are simply curious about how to better plan for the future, this is the book for you.

The chapter on budgeting was one of the book's highlights for me. I found that to be useful for people of all ages. The author emphasizes the significance of having a budget for how one spends money. The budget should include a person's income, food and beverage expenditures, and other expenses. The author also mentions online tools used for the same purpose. Budgeting ensures that a person does not waste money on frivolous purchases and instead acquires 'free' money to spend on something they like. I also like and support the idea of getting health insurance because it will save a person a lot of money in the event of an illness. The book is an eye-opener on the various medical coverages a person can choose based on their needs. I liked how in addition to providing background information on different subjects, the author stated their pros and cons. I also found the links and books provided by the author helpful, as readers will have an easier time accessing more information. Alan did an excellent job of providing informative books on the various online jobs available.

The only negative aspect I found with the book is that there were too many jokes. While some jokes were amusing in light of the serious subject matter, the vast majority were distracting.

I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars. I believe the book was professionally edited because I only found one grammatical mistake. I believe the book deserves the rating I gave because of the knowledge it passes to readers.

I recommend this book and believe it is a must-read for anyone attempting to plan for retirement.
