[Following is a volunteer review of "Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula" by R.F. Kristi.]
The Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula by R. F. Kristi is the eighth book in the series called The Diary of a Snoopy Cat. The book can be read as a standalone and contains one hundred and twenty pages. It follows the adventures of Inca, a super cat detective who runs a team of detectives. It is an illustrated and colorful children’s storybook.
Inca, a Siberian cat, leads a team of detectives. This group of cats are well trained, smart, and innovative. Their human mom, Missy, takes them with her to South Korea, where she has been selected as a judge for a patisserie competition called "Le Cordon Bleu." The entire team is filled with distinct and interesting characters, and each is determined to solve any mystery that comes their way. Their first task was to find their mom’s cheese bag after it was stolen by a rival. However, are Inca and her team of detectives ready for South Korea and its mysteries?
The character development was done artfully by the author. I enjoyed the illustrations in the book. It was clear and made the book fun to read. It brought the characters to life. I liked how the author used words creatively to create a world that children would love to dive into. I like that it is educative and filled with facts. It teaches children lessons that will stick even after the book, like the spirit of togetherness and friendship. I remember smiling as I read the book because the author infused it with a bit of humor.
I recommend this book to children from ages five to twelve. It would be great as a bedtime story. And the illustrations bring the characters to life and make them relatable.
I rate this book four out of four stars, as I found nothing to dislike about it. It was fun to read. I discovered no grammatical errors, and the book appears to have been professionally edited and proofread.
