John Thurgood Thomas is a very wealthy man and a generous one too. He’s the brain behind JT’s World, a giant complex housing a hotel, a tavern, offices, a doctor’s office, a theatre and an amusement park. It is in this complex that the story begins, following a series of murders in the “yet to be completed” complex. In a bid to liven up his spirit following certain incidents, JT Thomas embarks on a journey to pick up some cattle for his ranch, Ponderosa. He goes with Buck and other cowhands. It is on this journey that he experiences all manner of adventure and thrill. He makes new friends along the way and creates enemies for himself too. Among these thrills and highs, JT is finally able to quench the thirst of his soul that not even philanthropy, wealth, his agency or his ward, Madeline, has been able to sate. We are drawn into another world that has JT at its centre. It’s indeed “JT’s world.”

JT’s World by E. Alan Fleischauer is an intriguing, excellent read, and there are so many positive aspects to it. Set in the Wild West in a time when gun-slinging was still the norm, it's such a balanced read because it focuses not only on the main character, JT, but it still sheds enormous light on the lives of people related to him in one way or the other. In fact, I’ll say this is one of the most selfless narratives I’ve ever read. This is coupled with the massive action contained in these pages. This book is also action-filled. The author barely left a breathing space, and I was glad I was thrilled all through my reading. There’s gun action, romance action, philanthropic action and even superstition action.

For the negative aspect, I think all the gun actions weren’t necessary. Sometimes I found it hard to both catch my breath and fix my eyes on who pulled the trigger. Furthermore, I couldn't help but wonder if gun deaths were that rampant in those times for doing simple things such as serving beer, then how could anyone survive into old age seeing that not even a good egg such as JT could escape being the aim of a gun? It made the entire thing seem exaggerated to me. In a bid to tell a compelling story, the author crossed the line of exaggeration.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. Although I admit that the gun action was a bit too much, they were not done in a distasteful manner. So, I do not consider it enough reason to deduct a star. Also, this book was well edited. In a book this long, I only encountered an error. That is proof of professional editing. I believe that these, in addition to the positive aspects, justify my rating.

I recommend this book to everyone who loves a thrilling, lengthy, and adventure-filled Western story. Lovers of gun action, cowboy romance, and historical settings would adore this book. If you are a lover of rich ranch owners and their generosity, then this is a book for you! Also, I highly recommend this book as it holds no bias against any group of people. It’s just a book that balances off everything in early Western culture.

I usually don’t really enjoy historical fiction, but I have read another novel by this same author and really liked it. I must say, though, that romance is really far down on my list of preferences, but I like everything else mentioned, so it’s a go.

It's safe to say that the setting of the book is appealing. The Wild West, as I have seen in movies, appears to be thrilling. I would love to take look.

I like the fact that the gun action wasn't done in a distasteful manner. It would have made the book less enjoyable. Everything about this book was beautiful apart from that. Thank you for your review.
