[Following is a volunteer review of "Reconfigurement" by E. Alan Fleischauer.]
A book addressed to people in the United States, and targeted mostly at those over 40, Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer is a really good guide for rethinking your source of income.
Written in a playful manner, full of well-timed humour and sarcasm. The book manages to give the right information on all its topics, while never losing track of the main point. The author keeps a constant dialog with his reader throughout the whole book, which makes the topic of income management enjoyable. It is not the typical, rigid, book about how to spend your money successfully; instead, the writing style makes everything more pleasurable. The author praises the reader, from time to time, because they keep on reading. As if it is a struggle to get through the text. Fleischauer seems to have a particular style of writing. The most outstanding feature this writing possesses is telling the reader to skip a chapter if not interested in the topic.
The book gives concrete reasons for the importance of every type of insurance or income plan, be it disability insurance, retirement plan, or life insurance. It also provides advice on social security, mutual funds, estates, and many more. Moreover, the book also explains how to set goals and how to achieve them effectively. In addition to this, trustworthy resources are offered, which is truly helpful if you intend to act on the advice given. Every recourse recommended is also free to use.
With an emphasis on planning ahead, the book is a reliable tool to help you get started right away. The author gives a lot of historical information and up-to-date information on everything discussed. The entire book gives you the impression that you are already in control of everything that you have learned along the way.
At the end of the book, the job problem is once again addressed. The author even offers a list of books related to the topic, this way, keeping true to his mission of being helpful until the very end.
I rate this book a 4 out of 4 mainly because no matter its serious topic, it stays true to itself in the most laid-back way possible. It gives important and good advice and resources while at the same time being entertaining. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to be in control of their income. It is also a good read for people looking to start managing income in a more practical way.
In a nutshell, the book is well written and funny, while addressing a very serious, useful and important topic. I could go as far as calling it a great manual for those interested in the money management topic.
