Don’t Mind Me, I’m Just Having a Bad Life by Lewis Kempfer is ultimately one of the best books I’ve read to date. This book was so captivating that I simply couldn’t put it down once I started. The book begins with Lewis’ childhood and going into his adulthood and all the issues he faced growing up. The book is raw and very revealing into Lewis’ life. You’ll embark on his relationship with his father and childhood fiascos and slowly transcend into a more discovered Lewis.

This book was honestly phenomenal as I mentioned prior. The thing that captivated me most whilst reading the book was Lewis’ relationship with his father, how he viewed the Christian lifestyle and God. This book was very relatable as someone who also grew up in similar circumstances as Lewis Kempfer. His childhood was very sad but he really puts a good dark twist on his experiences and leaves you laughing through his chaos.

As someone who grew up with similar circumstances as Lewis himself, I can’t say anything negative about this book nor the author as many of his experiences were things I have experienced almost exactly the same. The story was intriguing from start to finish. Great work Lewis!

I rate this book a 4 out of 4. The raw and openness in this read is outstanding. I adore the way his dark humour makes up for his trauma so you feel bad for his experience but also end up with a good chuckle in between. As far as errors go I would say the book was exceptionally well edited as I was unable to find any during my read. There are however some erotic scenes (intro, and page 58) in the book as well as some profanity (page 22) these are only the first occurrences. It does also contain religious as well throughout the book.

Now who I recommend this book to you might be asking? I would recommend this book to former members of the LGBTQ+ community, people who want to know what it’s like to grow up as male who loves males. I would also recommend Don't Mind Me, I’m Just Having a Bad Life to anyone who just felt indifferent as a child or just feel like they didn’t fit in cause of any which reason. Anyways thank you Lewis Kempfer for writing this book it was a great read! And I hope many others find it as interesting as I did!
