EMP Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer is a story about terrorism. Kelly and Tom were on their honeymoon in Honduras when Kelly accidentally discovered an undercover gift shop housing a terrorist laboratory. The terrorists happen to be a team sent by the Korean leader to Honduras with the mission to launch an atomic bomb into America. The American government sent a CIA agent and a private security outfit to Honduras to make sure the plan to detonate an atomic bomb in America did not succeed. Did the Korean leader succeed in launching an atomic bomb on American soil? Did the American government succeed in thwarting the plan of the terrorists? The rest of this book has a comprehensive account of what happened.

There are some aspects of this book that I enjoy. This book is very important because it raises critical questions about world safety which we don't normally discuss in social spheres. For example, instead of crashing an airplane into a building, a terrorist could decide to sabotage the internet by deleting sensitive data. This is possible with the use of an electromagnetic pulse. Also, the author of this book made an important observation about how the future power supply could be tampered with. As we know, most of the office and home appliances that make life easier run on electricity. What happens when a natural or man-made source disrupts the generating sets powering these appliances? This book mentioned solar flares as one of the natural phenomena that could disrupt the power grid. I learned about bone reconstruction for the first time in this book. I never knew that forensic sculptors could reconstruct a face by merely looking at the skull.

One thing I can say from the stories in this book is that nature has a way of bringing a messiah in difficult times. Jung Lo was employed to help design an atomic bomb meant to destroy America. Jung Lo's conscience did not allow him to partake in such a deadly act. Therefore, he resorted to sabotaging the bombing mission by inserting a bug in the code meant to detonate the bomb. Also, it was divine for Kelly to enter the disguised gift shop at such an odd hour and discover the secret laboratory. I can say Kelly and Jung Lo are the messiahs in this case.

The author of this book is an experienced storyteller. I can tell from the way the author used simple and easy-to-understand words to tell the story in this book. The chapters of this book were so connected that one could easily grasp the message. The editors of this book did a great job with the editing. This book has nothing about it that I dislike. Considering the above, I am giving this book a rating of four out of four stars.

I recommend this book to world leaders because it mentions some critical things they should guard against if humans must continue to exist on earth. This book will also be a good read for servicemen and servicewomen as there is a comprehensive account of how to foil terrorist plans in this book.

The selflessness of foregoing their honeymoon for an investigation shows commitment and is well appreciated.

The author knows well how to bring out social life in connection with a conflict. These things do reflect in her books. Your review makes this one appealing for me to read it.
