[Following is a volunteer review of "JTs World" by E. Alan Fleischauer.]
What a happy ending for Mr. John Thurgood Thomas nicked named JT. The novel had several stories within a story: Aamon Zamora a lawman with a dark side who couldn’t get along in having any good relationship, Madeline JT’s daughter, JT’S World itself, Bernie Grosspuke killed but wanted dead or alive, Taggert gang who would do anything they wanted, the twin horses Pete and Re-Pete and one more which I found enjoyable, “the Gibbons twins June and James”. Oh my God! The number of characters in this novel is inexplainable. I’ve never read a novel with such many characters.
This novel JT’S World was written by E. Alan Fleischauer. The novel is about the Gibbons twins June and James. June and James wanted to get away with murder, bank robbery, and rape. But in the mix of it all, June got short on the head and ended up in a long coma leading to their capture. James hired a lawyer to defend them Aamon Zamora, and a banker Robert Whittaker, the manager of Bremer Bank to wire any amount they needed. Sadly, on the day of the final court hearing when June Gibbons woke up from the coma, he had a lost memory, where he wrote a letter pleading both of them guilty. Leading to their death by hanging.
What interested me the most was JT’s character. However, he had all the advantages a man would wish for. He never took advantage of Maria Woodworth while she was drunk.
What I didn’t like was Victor’s character as a preacher and Sheriff Dirk’s character on the bounty payments. While people like Leslie Scarmuzzo and Chip Heller hunted most wanted bad men, rapists, and killers like Big Jim Fallon with any bounty of $1000 or more. Lawmen like Sheriff Dirk took all the benefits that came with it. Again, tales say that nuns are worse when it comes to sexual molesters. But in this novel, I think preachers are even more corrupt than nuns. Victor a preacher just impregnated a 13-year-old. To talk God and find time again to do the opposite isn’t funny at all.
I’ll rate this novel a 4 out of 4 stars. Aamon Zamora’s story is charming. Zamora though a lawman, abducted a kid so her mother could marry him. Not too far from being a witch. Love is indeed blind to the fullest.
Relating to Aamon Zamora’s character I’ll recommend this novel to someone always busy with work or business. Aamon was a very intelligent lawyer who defended the Gibbons twins in pleading them innocent if not for June who lost his memory. Though he was skilled due to his work he kind of didn’t quite get along with love or love anyone. The chemistry just was not in him as it was with JT.
