The residents of Voulhire are about to learn a harsh lesson — You can't keep evil contained for too long. We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is the first book in an ongoing fantasy series.

Set in a world where religion, science, and magic have little power disparity, the common folk and lords of the nation of Voulhire live under the premonition of an enemy so terrifying he keeps them up at night. This great enemy is Dalahei Meldorath, the strongest known mage of their time. He bides his time while ambition consumes the aristocracy of Voulhire and other enemies of its prosperity emerge from their wasteland. What unimaginable terror awaits the people of Voulhire? Find out in this immersive saga.

The first thing that caught my eye was the font text used in the book. I have to admit that it made the story easy and relaxing to read through.

The author did a great job with the action scenes, as they were descriptive enough to give me a vivid imagination of what was happening. Another thing I enjoyed about the book was the elaborate world-building; from the history to the distribution of power and resources, the author took me to another realm (almost literally) and I was exposed to a new culture of life. The characters were also well-rounded, with each having a unique personality.

There were a few things that I did not enjoy. One of those is how the story gets dragged out in the middle with scenes that I found unnecessary to the plot. The story plot also seemed to have a lot of moving parts at different locations, which left more questions unanswered as I read through and allowed little room for any kind of character development, which I was earnestly looking forward to. However, with all my unspoken reservations, I enjoyed the book.

I would also like to add that without the glossary and the external links to his website for in-depth exploration, I would have been left with many more questions unanswered at the end of this book.

I would award this book a rating of four out of four stars. It was simply magical (pun intended) and the few action scenes in the story were satisfying enough. I would also add that I discovered no errors, thereby concluding that the book was flawlessly edited.

I would recommend this book to readers of action and fantasy novels. It does contain sparse usage of vulgar words, so I would also recommend it to readers who are not sensitive to profanities.

I read this one myself and I have to say that I could not agree more with this review. Although not a lover of sci-fi books, I did enjoy this one and give it a good rating. Well done!

Although I am not a fan of fantasy series, but your review seems to make this book appealing. This is awesome!
