Voice Of a Mummy brings the past and present together in a tale of astonishing events. Dr. Kaili Worthy is an archeologist who stumbles upon a revelation that’s sure to rock the scientific community. She’s unsure of whether or not to disclose her findings to the public. Instead, Dr. Kaili elicits help from her husband and a friend who is an archeologist. The three agree secrecy is the best way to proceed until they gather enough proof. Like Kaili, they are putting their professional reputations on the line. Together, they execute a risky endeavor to keep what's buried, safe from being unearthed.

I like the unique writing style of Kay A. Oliver. Her words paint beautiful pictures that bring the pages alive. As she vividly lays out a scene, it's easy to get entangled in the action. The author creates multiple storylines intertwined with each other. All characters have detailed narratives that play out simultaneously. Each chapter is labeled with the place, time, and characters involved; done in such a lucid manner the reader follows along without a hiccup. It’s well-received when connecting the past to the present.

The only element of the book I disliked is the excessive communication with the dead. The title of the book should be taken literally and not figuratively. There’s a lot of chatting through the use of a Spirit Box. If a person is uncomfortable with the thought of speaking with the dead, this may be a point of contention for them. However, it makes for a clever plot. That's because the only true way to know a person is to ask them yourself.

I give Voice Of a Mummy 4 out of 4 stars because I found very few errors throughout the book. Kay A. Oliver does a brilliant job of creating an adventure with twists and turns to keep you on your toes.

This book is best suited for a mature audience. There are a few sexual innuendos shared between husband and wife. The author alludes to sexual encounters but does not explicitly say what happens. I recommend this book to anyone who’s feeling the pressure of finding a good work-life balance. That's because the main characters are confronted with the same dilemma. Additionally, I recommend Voice Of a Mummy to readers who are curious about communicating with the dead. As well as people looking for a good fictional tale about mummies.
