I'd like to say a few words about the author. Alan has been a financial advisor for almost 20 years and now owns his own company, handling millions of dollars for his clients, so I'm sure he knows what he's talking about. He lives in the United States (in Minnesota), which will be a key component of the book. He explains in detail how to prepare for your retirement. He delves into topics such as social security, life insurance, retirement planning, and affordable health insurance. He also emphasizes the importance of conducting a life assessment, monthly budgeting, and, last but not least, investing. He also recommends us to seek an expert whenever we are dealing with a sensitive topic. I like how he discloses that he does not want to sell you anything and that you must make your own research on some topics. In my opinion, Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer is a really helpful book to plan ahead in life.

The book has been well written. Despite the fact that it was a difficult subject, I enjoyed reading it. I thought it was incredibly helpful, especially since he gives us helpful information for subsequent chapters and specifies websites where readers may conduct life evaluations for free or at a very minimal cost when he discusses them. To support his claims, he offers clear examples. The author perfectly catches the tone of the book since he is able to make this dry and complicated subject interesting and understandable.

I could have written this for the part above, but perhaps it's better here; Alan sometimes utilizes jokes in the chapters, and there are too many of them, making it difficult to take it seriously at times.

I gave this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars since the author, especially with the help of the materials supplied, clearly explains and goes into detail about a complex subject. I have to confess that some jokes did make me laugh.

I would recommend this book to anyone over the age of 30, but since it only discusses options and opportunities available in the United States, it may not be the best option for anyone who resides abroad, even though it is still worthwhile to read because, for instance, concepts like investing and self-assessment are somewhat universal. If this suits you and you are unfamiliar with retirement planning, you must read this book!
