Review of E M P Honeymoon
It was a fantastic honeymoon on Honduras's beaches in the Caribbean Islands for the newly-wed couple, Kelly and Tom, until Kelly's curiosity almost landed her in trouble. Intending to grab something nice she could take back to her nephew, nieces, and mother-in-law, she entered The Pigsty, a shop selling piggy toys. After shopping around, she wanted to check out but didn't find the clerk. She decided to look around hoping to find one around, but her search took her to a door restricted only to employees. What the room behind the door revealed made Kelly cringe.
For a moment, she couldn't connect what it was but she immediately knew something was wrong. By the time she realized the shop was just a smokescreen and it housed terrorists planning an EMP attack, she was already spotted and had to fight for her life. Inevitably, she had placed her own life and that of her husband and everyone she knew in grave danger. She had to act quickly!
E M P Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer, to me, is one of those books you pick just for curiosity — only to find you've gotten hold of a highly addictive piece that you'll find difficult putting down. I was a little busy and quite engaged in other things while I was on this book, but I always had to read to know how the story went. With its wonderfully knit narration, the book was a fantastic piece to read every time I was free. I can't stress more how entertainingly the tale reeled out page after page. By the middle of the page, I was so dissolved into the book eager to know whether General Lee's plans would succeed and what Kelly and her team would do to stop it.
To keep it short, I would give most aspects of the book a nod of approval. The character's actions seemed natural owing to their wonderful development. There were no characters left loose — even the minor ones. Everything seemed perfectly drawn out and that made for a seamless flow of reading. The book's pace sounded a tad too fast for me though. Everything was happening too quickly to catch up with, but on another front, it was wonderful to have it that way. I don't have any other negative remarks about the book.
This was a satisfactory read. I give it 4 out of 4 stars and I see no reason to deduct any stars. If you like wonderful EMP-themed thrillers, I highly recommend this book. Without a doubt, it will be worth your time.
