[Following is a volunteer review of "Reconfigurement" by E. Alan Fleischauer.]
Reconfigurement is a self-help book about planning ahead for your financial future. This is even more important in today’s social and economic climate as life expectancy rises with each passing decade. The author, E. Alan Fleischauer, is a reputable member of the financial management industry with more than 20 years of experience.
Due to his experience in the industry, the author is able to provide valuable information about various financial topics and instruments that readers can use to create a sustainable financial plan. He covers topics about disability insurance, financial planning, retirement, budgeting, investing, and social security.
One topic that the book covers that is rather intriguing is the notion of not fearing a change in the work environment if the individual is not happy. Often, the emphasis is on getting the highest-paying job possible. However, Alan Fleischauer gives his take on the importance of having a job you enjoy and enjoying your life both before and after retirement. He maintains that transitioning and adjusting to work you enjoy is always possible, no matter the age.
The chapters in the book are short, simple, and filled with humor. This makes them easy to read and follow, especially considering the financial topics. The explanations are concise and the informal style of writing makes the book enjoyable to read. The author’s expertise in financial management is evident through the level of detail and layout of the information. His techniques are easy to follow and implement. With the proper amount of research and planning, readers will be able to add his tips to their lives and improve their financial outlook.
The drawback to the book is that some of the topics and financial instruments are specifically for the American market. Thus, they can feel irrelevant to the reader if they do not focus on the underlying guidelines that are being addressed. However, this should not be a deterrent to international readers as they will still learn valuable lessons. With enough research, one can find alternatives in your own country that meet the readers' needs.
Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer is thoroughly and professionally edited, interesting to read, and educational. As a result, I give the book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars.
I would recommend this book to anyone planning their life. The guidelines and instructions in the book will be helpful in creating a financial plan that suits the reader. The great thing about this book is that the strategies are applicable to any age.
