Review of Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow
Do you still need further explanation about the Universe, Earth, and Life? Does your curiosity arise when talking about it? Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow -Evolution and the Noosphere by PD Botha is a perfect book for you. Botha talks about the studies and discoveries of the Universe. He tackles some aspects of things in outer space - the solar system, stars, the milky way, etc. He also talks about Homogenesis, Noogenesis, and Noosphere. In the latter part of the book, he talks about Christogenesis which is related to God.
This book fascinates me. I never thought it has a lot to offer from science to theology. The first chapters talk about Evolution, The Sun, Cosmogenesis, and Planetogenesis. The facts presented in these chapters blew me away. For example, it says, the Earth's Equatorial diameter is 12 756 km, and Uranus has 21 moons (page 52). This information adds to my knowledge. I probably missed it in my science class but gladly I learned from this book. In addition, I found that the pictures are so helpful in support of the explanation of the topic. Through it, the book is more understandable and captivating. Some information amazed me. For instance, the world population is about 7 800 billion; Sun's mass is equal to 300 000 times the mass of the Earth with a volume of 1.3 million times of the Earth (page 21). Concerning it, I appreciate Botha's hard work in gathering all this information. It was astounding.
One thing in the book that I like is how PD Botha combined science and faith. In the book, he talks about the Creation of the Universe based on science, and he also presented the Creation of the Universe based on the Bible. The combined ideas made the book unique. The ideas were presented very well. It is up to us to decide which one we believe- in science or faith. In the end, I appreciate Botha's faith in God.
I want to add up this phrase because I like it. It says, "We are not humans who are having a spiritual experience, but spirits having a human experience (Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, page 210).
Moreover, the book was written in simple words, which is very easy to understand. The book was well organized. I observed that the book was exceptionally edited because there were no errors in it. I would say, I have nothing to dislike about the book because it was an enjoyable read for me. The content was educative and I learned a lot about the Universe, Earth, and Life. Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow -Evolution and the Noosphere by PD Botha deserves four out of four stars .
I recommend this book to science lovers. I want to aware the non-religious readers that the book contains spirituality. Botha talks about his belief in God. But all in all, it was a wonderful read.

A combination of science and faith would be interesting to read. I always believed that there should be room for both in our belief system. Otherwise, we are just as rigid as our great forefathers, who believed the Earth was flat. Thank you for this lovely review, Hazel.Hazel Mae Bagarinao wrote: ↑23 Oct 2022, 04:58
