[Following is a volunteer review of "Reconfigurement" by E. Alan Fleischauer.]
Reconfigurement is a book that is mostly specific to the United States citizens. It is full of guidelines on how to plan for your future when facing retirement. Being financially clever and responsible is not something one can learn on your own, be it in school, after school or even through your parents. Then again, it is also not always interesting or entertaining to read about financial matters. The author, E. Alan Fleischauer made reading this book fun and entertaining to read to ensure the reader does not get bored by all the facts. You can plan for a satisfying retirement even if you think it might be too late to do so.
The guidelines and self-help methods given in this book are set out in a manner that anyone can easily understand and follow. The author provides relevant references or websites where the reader can find additional information on taking self-tests to see where your strengths and weaknesses are and how to earn money on a part-time basis. Useful information is shared regarding financial institutions, insurance policies and social security. Most definitely a positive aspect of this book, are the little in-between jokes and entertaining commentary of the author himself. The reader almost feel as if you are sitting in an energetic, live presentation and not simply reading a book. You can reconfigure your life at any moment and at any age. Reconfigurement teaches you how to do that in a responsible manner.
There is hardly any negative aspects of this book. Any form of financial advice, future planning or career information can sometimes be extremely boring to listen to, let alone reading! But the author found a very entertaining way to make this book interesting and even humorous.
The recommended audience for this book would be people looking for ways to create a better future for themselves. If you are not satisfied with your current career, and I am sure most of us are, and you are looking for advice on making the right changes that will impact your future and retirement in a positive way, then this book is definitely for you. One is never too old to learn and when money and retirement enters the picture, guidelines from a professional is what you need.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars as it was exceptionally well written, extremely informative and pleasing to read.
