My Special Day in Jasper, Texas USA by Jermaine Kenyatta is an inspiring children's book that was drafted from the memories of a woman named Martha Adams. Trying to change the phenomena of life is not that easy. Martha was motivated by her mother to make a great change in the racist culture of the people in Jasper, Texas. The journey wasn’t that easy.

Martha, a black girl, was sent by her mom to be the first colored child to go to a white elementary school in Jasper, Texas. There was a boundary to be broken that required this sacrifice. Martha faced some adversities in school from other white kids. She was mocked, discriminated against, and also denied some privileges at school due to her color. But gratefully, Martha had a great teacher and the best mom ever. So they formed an army to remove the fear in other black children so that they could mix up with the whites.

I loved this book. This is the first children's book I have read that sounds like a memoir. This book contains a lot of moral lessons that will serve as a tutor for our children in their social lives. I loved the role of Mrs. Gannon in this book. She is indeed worthy of a teacher. Martha's mother is a God-fearing woman. I loved the fact that she also tried to guide and strengthen her daughter through the word of God. The book's storyline was well organized, easy to understand, and satisfactorily detailed.

There was nothing I disliked about this book’s storyline. The characters were few and developed well, leaving no room for confusion. Even though this book was a fascinating read for me, I still had some issues with it. The table of contents did not have page numbers attached to it. The book cover doesn’t seem to look like one for children. When I first saw this book, from the cover, I thought it was the usual kind of memoir I read. I almost skipped it because I don’t like memoirs. The book cover should have at least been an animated picture of Martha Adams, since it was written from her memories and it is a children's book. Other than this, I don’t have any issues with this book.

Due to some complex grammar and shortened words I saw in this book, I recommend this book to children over the age of ten. Especially those that love a book that talks about racism and socialization. It will be great for you.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The issues I had with this book were not enough for me to take away any stars from it. I did not find any typographical errors in this book. But due to the issues I had with this book, I will say that it was professionally edited.

Martha is an inspirational character who tries to progress regardless of the issues around her. The theme of racism might be a bit heavy for a children's book, however.

I pray that one day humanity will grasp the truth that in God's eyes, we are all created equal. From what I can tell from your review, I really admired Martha's determination in the face of adversity. Thanks for the fantastic review, by the way.

Martha was not the only one who was brave and strong. Her mother was brave. Her teacher that went the extra mile to make her feel accepted was brave. Segregation is such a painful topic but it’s beautiful to see some kindness in all of that.

As much as the issue of racism is bad, I'm a bit saddened that Martha would have to fight these battles on her own. I look forward to reading all about how she'd do it. Nicely written review.

I love books that are historically inclined. This is a book that shows how racism was prevalent in that era.

Racism in America in those days is not a thing of play. overcoming the barrier of it no child play either. However, I love the courage of Martha for her courageous impact despite the old against her. good review.
