[Following is a volunteer review of "Soul Seeker" by Kaylin McFarren.]
Benjamin Poe is on death row for the murder of his son Gabriel. When his attorney begs him to tell him the truth Poe agrees, but warns him that he will not believe him. Crighton is the devil's best soul collector and right-hand demon. When he is sent on a mission to capture the souls of two angels the last thing Crighton expects is for himself to be captured instead. He is thrown into a cell with one of the two angels he has been sent to capture. Being a demon, he should kill her, but for some reason he feels drawn to her and does not understand why. Crighton realizes that there is something about himself that is different than other demons, something he has been unaware of for his entire life. Him and the angel Ariel have somehow formed a bond that neither one of them understands. Will Crighton overcome his demonic urges to hurt and kill Ariel, or will he give in to the darkness and hand her over to the devil?
Soul Seeker by Kaylin McFarren is a supernatural mystery with 393 pages. I was very pleased with this book. The story just grabbed a hold of me and would not let go. I loved how Crighton started out as the evil soul collector, but throughout the story underwent such a huge transformation. He is challenged to find a part of himself he never before knew existed. Ariel and Crighton are both forced to step out of their comfort zones and rely on this strange bond in order to survive.
I was not able to find anything about this book I did not like. The author kept me thoroughly entertained throughout the entire story. It has a little of everything, from witty banter, to the ultimate battle of good versus evil. I could not get enough of Crighton and Ariel's story.
I was unable to find any errors in this book which leads me to believe it has been professionally edited. I am giving this book a 4 out of 4 stars rating. The reason I am giving it a perfect rating is because it was very well written, and the story was so good. I found nothing to dislike at all.
Due to the use of profanity, violence, and some light sexual comments, I would recommend this book to a more mature audience. Anyone who loves a good supernatural mystery is in for a treat, this book will not disappoint. I promise this book will keep you up reading well into the night.
