Imagine you are in Ukraine right now, stuck diving from one aerial attack after another. All of a sudden, a messenger arrives and notifies you that a family member has passed and left you the keys to a fortune. This is the miracle that happened to Galen when his great-uncle died and he inherited his forge in Voulhire. We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz delves into his journey and the events that transpire in the kingdom of Voulhire.

Galen hoped that he had now entered a paradise and could leave behind the strife of his past life, the situation couldn’t be any further. Internally, the kingdom had to contend with a corrupt man leading the Mianoran knights, the men tasked with defending the kingdom. Elsewhere, a powerful mage is imprisoned not far off the shores of the kingdom, and a horde of rebels from Riva Rohavi threaten to lay siege and destroy the kingdom. Galen is determined to save his new homelands, and all he has is a stone with untold secrets, will it be enough? Adventure awaits!

I enjoyed the way that the events in the book were built up. It was not just one battle after another that the reader could not understand. The author took the time to detail the conflicts and tension such that the reader understood what the cause was and what was at stake. This made it easy to engage and envision the sequence of events and play the movie in your head, Readers will quickly make connections and feelings towards characters, though they may flip like pancakes throughout the book.

The book also raised wonderful philosophical dilemmas and ideas for the reader to contemplate in terms of what outcome they would like to see. The line between right and wrong is merely a dot at times. Readers will remain absorbed in the world of Voulhire and flip the page to the last chapter.

There was nothing I disliked about the book. The book is intriguing from start to finish, however, readers should be prepared for the fact that the action takes place in the latter parts of the book as this is the opening book of a series of 9.

We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies was professionally edited as it contains no errors. The book was exciting, well-written, and engaging. Therefore, I give it a rating of 4 out of 4 stars.

I recommend this book to all lovers of fantasy books. The book is profane so the reader must be mature.
