We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Mattew Tysz is a thrilling book that encompasses action, drama, and mystery. The Land of Princes is a town ravaged by war and poverty. It is also Galen Bray's hometown. In a bid for greener pastures, he leaves for Magnum Caelum, where his uncle resides.

On arrival, he finds out his uncle recently passed away, and he's to inherit his house and forge. He learns blacksmithing with the aid of Rowan, his uncle's enforcer. Rowan shows him around town to ensure he settles in quickly. King Wilhelm Arcolo appoints Eldus as the new ruler of Hillport. He tasks him with returning Hillport to its former glory. The previous ruler of Hillport was Meldorath, an evil mage who exploited the people for his gain. Rumor has it he's alive, and his name invokes fear among the people. What happens next? How does this relate to Galen?

The storytelling and writing of this book were top-notch. The author used intriguing dialogues, and the speech pattern of each character was as unique as the character itself. It avoided confusion and aided clarity for readers. I liked the world-building; although it's fantasy, it seemed realistic and relatable. The characters all had roles that impacted the story, even the secondary ones. It made the book engrossing as every page brought forth new mysteries and dynamics. Galen's character is my favorite; he was very humble and diligent. He showcased his humility by adhering to his uncle's wishes and learning blacksmithing. He diligently followed the steps laid out by his uncle and ensured the forge prospered. I admired how Eldus ruled the people of Hillport; he served the people fervently by putting their interests above his. The book also has elements of humor and sarcasm; these traits make it enjoyable.

The author told the story from different perspectives, and I found it perplexing as it confused me a bit. Being my only dislike, it isn't enough for me to remove a star. Hence, I happily give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. Being the first book in the series, it set a good tone for the ones to follow.

This book is error-free, to my knowledge. It demonstrates how it was well-edited. The story was well thought-out, and it resulted in a theatrical conclusion. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy science, fantasy, and sci-fi thrillers.

I have read many reviews of this book and this is the first one that didn’t focus almost entirely on Galen. I’m glad to hear there’s more to the story.

Lord Eldus is very kind. I was sad when he dies. He was the best thing that happened to Hillport. The town will miss his good leadership.
