[Following is a volunteer review of "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz.]
The book WE ARE VOULHIRE: A New Arrival Under Great Skies By Matthew Tysz was an amazing read.
The way the book showed the lives of different people but showed a connection in a way was commendable. Meeting Galen, in the beginning, made me pity him yet I respected his character; a man that has suffered the imaginable still saw the good in the world and was filled with so much kindness. We could see that he suffered a lot and he deserved the inheritance he got; living a life of little luxury.
We could see that King Wilhem loved Voulhire and was willing to do what it took to ensure the progress of each part of it not exempting the small city of Hillport. His governance of Voulhire was truly exemplary. A man of such character deserved only the cooperation of people but of course, there would be people not too fond of him. The choice that King Wilhem made for Hillport was obviously for the people and the person he chose for the task of moving the place forward was again a really good decision; choosing a man that was just like him but was more filled with passion.
A man like Meldorath, with so much power and intelligence, baffled people. The main thought of the man sent shivers down the spines of the people of Voulhire. What I always wondered was 'Is king Wilhem saying the truth about him?'.
I loved the beginning of the book! I honestly have to praise the author for the avid descriptions in this book. Especially with the descriptions of the places and events, it was so good that I felt I was witnessing it too. I slid through every page wanting more of the book! It was good of the author to add the meanings of words that a non-Voulhire wouldn't understand, at least I appreciated it.
I also really liked the wording and writing style of the author it seemed very original.
The characters in the book were distinct. They all had personalities that aligned well with their behaviors.
There is nothing that I hate about the book. It's that good! Although I would've appreciated it if there were page numbers to make some things easier but regardless I enjoyed the book. I can't wait for the whole series to be completed!
The book was edited really well and I spotted no error, I award this book 4 out of 4 stars .
I recommend the book to people that love historical fiction or to people that want to try the genre out; this is the best book to start with!
