Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer is a book about retirement and smart decisions. According to the author, human beings seem to have a longer period of activity. However, they have a shorter period of earning money. If life is not properly planned, the retirement phase could become a burden. This book shows how people can deal with financial challenges and make the best decisions for themselves. Also, the idea of insurance is properly discussed in this book.

The first thing that captivated me was the title of the book. After reading the description of this book, I was curious to know why the author chose this title for his book. As I read through, I got to understand the play on semantics that inspired his decision. While krinein is translated as "crises" in many languages, the same word means "turning point" in China. What characterizes an important phase of your life could seem problematic. However, it is up to you to deal with these challenges. Many people have dreams and aspirations, but without a turning point, they may never achieve them. I liked that this book inspired me to think ahead.

I enjoyed the statistics shared in this book. I felt it displayed the amount of discipline and knowledge possessed by the author. For a financial book, I thought that the narration used was quite friendly. Many economic and financial books have formal tones. However, I could tell that the author tried to be conversational and friendly. This helped to drive home the points. Also, there were some jokes shared in this book. The interesting thing about the jokes shared was that they were humorous and educative. I found myself learning a thing or two from the jokes. The amount of information shared in this book was impressive. Though this was a short read, I found myself learning new ideas. I liked that the author shared useful tips proven by credible sources. The information in this book seemed authentic.

The only thing I disliked about this book was the complexity of the pieces of information shared. Because this book used a friendly tone, I expected that the information in it would be simplified. It felt contradictory to juxtapose a down-to-earth tone with complex information. I had to find out the meaning and application of some of the terms used in this book from other sources. While this was a concern, I still had a great feeling about this book. My rating is 4 out of 4 stars. I did not deduct a star because I felt the positive aspects of this book significantly outweighed this concern. Deducting a star implies an unpardonable flaw, and that was not my perception of this book. It was an insightful piece. Also, this book was perfectly edited. I did not encounter any errors in it.

I recommend this book to readers who want to make great financial decisions. Also, I recommend this book to residents of the United States of America because most pieces of information in this book are specifically for them.
